Bidspirit auction | Renaissance Revival Inlaid Parlor Cabinet,
Renaissance Revival Inlaid Parlor Cabinet, Late 19th Century - A superb small-scale Renaissance Revival parlor cabinet of exceptional quality, dating to the late 19th century. This richly detailed cabinet features an architectural stepped top with turned finials and a central balustrade adorned with roundel appliqués and delicate gilt-incised ornament. Below, the case is framed by fluted and ebonized columns with Corinthian capitals, supporting a paneled door with molded surrounds and a striking circular medallion centered within a burl walnut field. The cabinet is further embellished with gilt line inlay and scrollwork across the frieze and upper molding, all set within a warm walnut and burl walnut case. The interior reveals a beautifully finished bird’s-eye maple interior with shelves, a luxury detail seldom seen in pieces of this size. Its unusually compact proportions make it particularly desirable for decorators and collectors who require period craftsmanship without the typical monumental scale. 36 in. W, 18 in. D, 61 in. H Condition: Very good overall with expected minor surface wear; retains original interior; door and hardware functional; finish warm and even with crisp carving and inlay.
