Rococo Revival Marble-Top Center Table, Attributed to J. & J.W. Meeks, New York, c. 1855 - Exceptional Rococo Revival carved rosewood marble-top center table, attributed to J. & J.W. Meeks, New York, c. 1855. The circular white marble top rests on a deeply carved and scrolled quatreform base with reeded pedestal and acanthus-carved knees, terminating in scrolling feet. The vigorous yet balanced design exemplifies the high-quality cabinetmaking and sculptural carving for which Meeks’ New York workshop was renowned. 31 in. H, 40 in. dia. Condition: Marble top in very good condition with faint surface marks and light discoloration; base retains an old surface with minor professional restoration and typical age wear; sturdy and elegant presentation.
