Bidspirit auction | Victorian Aesthetic Movement Inlaid Rosewood

Victorian Aesthetic Movement Inlaid Rosewood Étagère Sideboard, Late 19th Century - A superb Victorian Aesthetic Movement étagère-sideboard crafted in select rosewood with richly figured veneers and elaborate marquetry inlays, circa 1880–1890. The cabinet features a dramatic arched and scrolled superstructure framing a beveled central mirror, flanked by twin mirrored display towers with turned supports, pierced gallery rails, and finely executed gilt-line accents. Below, the serpentine front cabinet is beautifully inlaid with urns, foliate scrolls, and pendant blossoms, opening to shelved storage behind gracefully curved doors. Additional mirrored panels, raised on cabriole legs joined by a shaped lower tier, complete the elegant design. A striking example of late-Victorian craftsmanship, blending the Aesthetic Movement’s emphasis on beauty, exotic woods, and artful decoration with practical functionality. Retains a deep, warm patina throughout. Dimensions: 83 in. H, 53 in. W, 14.5 in. D Condition: Very good for age; expected minor wear to finish; mirrors show natural aging; structurally sound and decorative.
