Fine Classical Marble-Top Center Table, Attributed to J. & J.W. Meeks, New York, c. 1845 - A superb Classical Revival marble-top center table attributed to J. & J.W. Meeks, New York, c. 1845. The circular marble top of richly figured Breccia marble rests on a boldly turned and reeded pedestal supported by four carved dolphin-form legs terminating in paw feet. The dense, high-grade mahogany base exhibits exceptional turning and detailed carving typical of Meeks’ New York workshop during the mid-19th century. The table retains its original finish and displays a fine mellow patina. 31 in. H, 42 in. dia. Condition: Excellent presentation; marble top with light wear and minor edge abrasions; base with scattered small touch-ups and age wear; structurally sound and sturdy.
