Fine Federal Inlaid Mahogany Bow-Front Sideboard, Mid-Atlantic or Southern States, Circa 1795–1810 - Elegant Federal bow-front inlaid mahogany sideboard, attributed to a Mid-Atlantic or Southern workshop, circa 1795–1810. The shaped mahogany top follows the serpentine contour of the case, centered by a bowed drawer above a demilune cupboard flanked by graduated drawers, including a deep cellarette drawer, each outlined with delicate string inlay and cockbeading. The tall, square-tapered legs are embellished with refined bellflower drops terminating in chevron points, a decorative motif associated with both Baltimore cabinet shops and documented examples from coastal South Carolina and Georgia recorded in the MESDA catalog.Primary wood is mahogany; secondary woods include yellow pine and another resinous softwood possibly consistent with cypress. Interior construction, drawer layout, and inlay patterns place the piece within the broader Federal tradition of the Mid-Atlantic and Southern states, though a definitive workshop attribution requires further physical analysis.
