Classical Mahogany Work Table with Drop Leaves, Circa 1840 - An attractive Classical period mahogany work table, circa 1840, featuring a rectangular top with opposing drop leaves above a case fitted with three faux over three working drawers retaining later brass rosette pulls. The table is supported on a boldly turned and carved central pedestal with acanthus carving, resting on a quadriform base with carved paw feet. Nicely proportioned and made of richly grained mahogany, showing mellow surface wear appropriate to age. A versatile piece suitable for use as a lamp table, work table, or occasional stand. 29.5 in. H, 19 in. W (leaves down), 29.5 in. W (extended), 18 in. D. Condition: General surface wear, scratches, and age-related imperfections throughout; veneer cracks to top; drawers slide smoothly; sturdy and good in presentation.
