Continental Painted Pine Cupboard, Early–Mid 19th Century - A striking early Continental painted pine cupboard, early–mid 19th century, retaining a beautifully worn historic polychrome surface in deep blue and ochre tones. The two paneled doors feature raised geometric panels outlined in terracotta red and open to reveal a spacious interior fitted with three fixed shelves. The cupboard is constructed in thick hand-planed boards with pegged joinery, iron hinges, and a simple molded cornice in layered blue and umber paint, all consistent with rural Central or Eastern European work of the period. Stands on an integral plinth base. A wonderfully rustic survivor with exceptional, untouched patina. 87 in. H, 66 in. W, 25 in. D. Condition: Very worn original paint with areas of loss, scratches, and expected surface wear throughout; age shrinkage cracks; interior shelves show heavy use; hinges and lock show oxidation; backboards with surface erosion and irregularities. Solid overall with stable structure.
