Mahogany Full Tester Bed, 19th Century - A handsome 19th-century full-size mahogany tester bed featuring boldly turned and carved posts rising to a dramatic rectangular canopy, currently fitted with a gathered interior fabric panel. The posts display deeply cut spiral, reeded, and foliate carving, leading to block-and-vase bases with shaped lower rails. The headboard presents a paneled field topped by an elaborately carved crest with shell and floral motifs. The canopy frame is original to the bed and retains a warm, even mahogany finish throughout. An impressive architectural form designed to anchor a period bedroom or statement interior. 93 in. H, 65 in. W (canopy), Interior: 80 in. L and 56.5 in. W Condition: Very good overall; minor surface wear and scattered small rubs consistent with age; canopy fabric later added; joints sound; rails and testers appear complete and original.
