Large French Louis XVI Style Giltwood Mirror, Early 20th Century - A grand Louis XVI style carved giltwood mirror of impressive scale, featuring an ornate crest centered by a scallop shell flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves, floral sprays, and trailing foliate motifs. The substantial molded frame is decorated with a repeating oval-and-scroll pattern heightened with warm red bole showing through the gilding. Retains its original or period beveled mirror plate, offering a clear, bright reflection. The mirror presents beautifully with rich, aged patina to the gilt surface and finely carved details throughout. 87 in. H, 53 in. W, 3 in. D. Condition: Very good overall with expected age-related wear to gilding; minor resurfacing to high points; mirror plate clear with only faint spotting typical of age; sturdy and ready to hang.
