Set of Eight Classical Revival Mahogany Dining Chairs, Late 19th Century - A handsome set of eight Classical Revival mahogany dining chairs comprising six side chairs and two open-arm chairs, each crafted with shaped crest rails over vase-form splats displaying well-figured mahogany grain. The armchairs feature boldly scrolled supports carved in tight volutes, lending the set an elegant sculptural presence. All chairs rest on gently sabered front legs and raked rear posts, and each retains an upholstered drop-in seat recently covered in a soft green textured fabric. Solid, well-made, and presenting with rich color and an even, glowing surface. Dimensions (Armchair): approx. 38 in. H, 24 in. W, 22 in. D; (Side Chair): approx. 38 in. H, 20 in. W, 20 in. D; Seat Height: approx. 18 in. Condition: Very good, sturdy and functional; minor age-related wear to surfaces; upholstery clean; frames structurally sound with expected small nicks and abrasions.
