Large Rococo Revival Giltwood Mirror with Cherub Crest, 19th Century - A grand Rococo Revival giltwood mirror of impressive scale, richly carved with scrolling acanthus leaves, S-curves, and foliate plumes, surmounted by a highly expressive crest featuring opposing cherub figures flanking an openwork cartouche with radiating leaf motif. The frame is detailed with a twisted ribbon border, carved corner volutes, and bead-and-reel inner trim surrounding the original silvered mirror plate, which shows desirable age-appropriate spotting. The mirror retains its warm, time-softened gilded surface and panelled wood backing. 62 in. H, 41 in. W, 3.5 in. D Condition: Very good overall; scattered small losses and touch-ups to gesso and gilding consistent with age; mirror plate with oxidation and spotting typical of original 19th-century glass; structurally solid and ready to hang.
