Southern Cherry Work Table with Bold Turned Legs, Circa 1840–1860 - Mid-19th century Southern work or side table in solid cherry, circa 1840–1860. The rectangular top rests over a single dovetailed drawer fitted with original turned wooden knobs, supported on boldly turned baluster legs terminating in ring-turned feet. A fine example of vernacular craftsmanship from the Southern backcountry, showing a warm, reddish-brown surface and good grain figure throughout. 29 ½ in. H, 24 in. W, 19 in. D. Condition: Very good overall; minor age wear and marks consistent with use; sturdy and well-preserved, with attractive color and patina.
