Bidspirit auction | Victorian Carved Oak Hall Stand
Victorian Carved Oak Hall Stand with Mirror, Late 19th Century - A monumental Victorian carved oak hall stand of impressive scale, richly detailed with deep relief carving throughout. The tall rectangular mirror is framed by scrolling acanthus panels, flanked by boldly turned and carved supports, and capped by an overhanging cornice with foliate ornament. Below the mirror sits a shaped display shelf over a carved two-door cabinet featuring floral and geometric panels. The lower tier includes robust turned legs with leaf carving and recessed drip trays—originally for umbrellas or walking sticks—still present at the base. Retains original warm, dark finish showing age-appropriate wear consistent with long use in an entry hall. Approx. 92 in. H, 46 in. W, 18 in. D. Condition: Wear to the finish, scattered scratches, one umbrella arm loose, and losses to interior tray supports; mirror plate with age spotting. Structurally sound and visually striking.
