Continental Carved Stone Sixteen-Light Chandelier, Early 20th Century - Impressive Continental carved-stone sixteen-light chandelier, early 20th century, fashioned in an elegant neoclassical manner. The tall central standard is carved with acanthus plumes and leaf panels, above an urn-form body with applied floral rosettes and lobed decorations. Sixteen scrolling candle arms extend outward in two tiers, each with leaf-molded bobeches and classical volute supports. The chandelier retains an appealing timeworn painted and patinated surface in shades of warm cream, verdigris, and muted gilt. A substantial and architectural fixture with excellent presence. Condition: Very good overall; scattered rubbing and expected age wear to painted surfaces; later hanging chain; wiring not tested and should be evaluated prior to installation.
