Renaissance Revival Carved Walnut Overmantel Mirror, 19th Century - Handsome and richly carved Renaissance Revival walnut overmantel mirror, late 19th century, featuring an architectural cornice with deep molded crown and bold acanthus-leaf frieze over a band of carved guilloche. The uprights are adorned with high-relief figural masks, grotesques, and floral rosettes, each executed with crisp modeling and good depth. The original beveled mirror plate remains housed within its stepped walnut frame, showing expected age silvering that adds to its period character. A substantial and impressive example sized to anchor a fireplace wall or entry hall. 72 in. H, 48 in. W, approx. 6 in.
