Large Rustic Indian Teak Storage Chest, 19th Century - A substantial 19th-century Indian storage chest crafted from thick, hand-hewn teak planks, retaining an appealing weathered surface with traces of old iron strapping and worn patination throughout. The rectangular hinged lid, constructed from wide boards with exposed joinery, opens to a spacious interior suitable for blankets, hearth accessories, or living-room storage. The front features original forged-iron hardware including the shield-form hasp, chain elements, and remnants of old green pigment along the vertical braces. Raised on short block feet integral to the base, giving the chest a stable, grounded profile ideal for repurposing as a coffee table. 15 in. H, 60 in. W, 30 in. D Condition: Expected wear for age; old surface abrasions, oxidation to iron components, age-related warping to top boards, and scattered staining to interior. Lid opens and closes properly.
