Monumental French Rococo-Style Giltwood Floor Mirror, 19th Century - A magnificent and impressively scaled French Rococo-style giltwood floor mirror, late 19th century, featuring a deeply carved and richly scrolled crest centered with a dramatic shell-and-acanthus plume, flanked by C-scrolls, floral sprays, and trailing foliate carving. The substantial giltwood frame displays a repeating cabochon and leaf motif along the vertical stiles and a beaded inner border surrounding the large original beveled mirror plate. The carving retains traces of original gilding with warm patinated undertones, adding depth and authenticity to its grand presentation. Approximately 82 in. H to top of crest, 58 in. W overall. Condition: Frame shows expected wear, rubbing, and scattered losses to gilding consistent with age; crest with an older stable repair and small chips; mirror plate with some silvering and light spotting. Sturdy and visually impressive as displayed.
