19th Century American Carved and Giltwood Mirror with Eagle Crest - Oval giltwood mirror surmounted by a boldly carved spread-wing eagle resting on a floral and scrollwork crest, the sides fluted and accented with acanthus carving, retaining an old gilt and polychrome surface. Backed with wood and fitted with an early hanging wire. 24 in. H, 27 in. W Condition: Surface wear and minor losses to gesso and gilding; mirror plate with age spotting and haze; stable overall.
