Southern Federal Mahogany Server or Side Table, Early 19th Century, From the Pelham Family Estate - A handsome Southern Federal mahogany server, early 19th century, featuring a rich, warm surface and a clean, architectural profile typical of Southern craftsmanship of the period. The rectangular top with rounded front corners rests above a boldly veneered frieze, supported by turned legs with ringed and tapered detailing, ending in turned feet. A full-length lower shelf provides additional display or storage surface, also crafted from early wide boards consistent with Southern workshop practices. Retains an appealing untouched, estate-found surface with expected wear from generations of family use. From the estate of Major John Pelham’s birthplace near Cane Creek, Alexandria, Alabama, this table descended through the Pelham–McGehee line for six generations until the passing of Miss Louise Foster in 2020. 40 in. H, 48 in. W, 24 in. D. Condition: Estate condition with general wear; scattered surface scratches and small edge losses; minor shrinkage separations. Structurally solid.
