Victorian Burl Walnut Lady’s Cylinder Secretary Desk, Circa 1880 - A charming Victorian lady’s cylinder secretary desk in walnut and burl walnut veneer, circa 1880, designed in a graceful compact scale typical of parlor and bedroom use. The case features a richly figured burl walnut cylinder roll opening to a fitted interior of pigeonholes, small drawers, and a central compartment, all over a pull-out writing surface retaining its original inset tooled leather. The upper section is crowned by an ornate gallery with carved scrollwork and pierced molding, adding architectural elegance to the form. Below, a pair of paneled burl-front cabinet doors opens to a large storage compartment with a central divider. Original turned pulls and period hardware. 53.5 in. H, 41 in. W, 24 in. D. Condition: Very good overall; expected wear from age and use; veneer surfaces show scattered small scuffs and touch-ups; writing surface with typical wear; interior clean and functional; doors and roll operate smoothly.
