“Napha from Bamboo Village,?? 19th-Century Steel Engraving in Deep-Well Inlaid Frame, From the - A finely detailed 19th-century steel engraving titled Napha from Bamboo Village , depicting a wide coastal landscape with figures in the foreground, distant hills, anchored ships, and dramatic clouded sky. The print is rendered with crisp linework typical of mid-Victorian travel engravings and retains good tonal contrast. Presented in an outstanding deep-well molded frame, richly accented with ebonized panels, gilt liners, and foliate inlay corner motifs, an unusually elaborate frame style often reserved for better Continental and English engravings of the period. Formerly part of the Pelham estate’s curated collection of framed engravings and early travel views. Frame: approx. 21 in. H, 24 in. W. Condition: ngraving shows scattered age toning and minor foxing; frame with expected edge wear, small losses to inlay, and age-consistent surface marks, but remains visually impressive.
