Victorian Rosewood & Gilt Bronze Pole Screen with Needlework Panel, 19th Century - A fine Victorian rosewood pole screen featuring an elegant serpentine shield-form frame enclosing a hand-worked floral needlepoint panel. The needlework depicts a lush bouquet of roses, peonies, and wildflowers tied with a blue ribbon, surrounded by scrolling acanthus embroidery on a deep claret ground. The reverse is upholstered in complementary rose silk with brass tack trim. The frame is surmounted by an ornate gilt bronze handle with foliate and scroll motifs, and raised on a carved and gilt-mounted tripodal base with cabriole legs terminating in gilt claw feet. A richly detailed example of 19th-century decorative craftsmanship suitable for both period and eclectic interiors. 54 in. H overall; screen approx. 20 in. W; footprint approx. 12 in.
