French Empire / Neoclassical Marble and Gilt Bronze Pedestal, ca. 1870's - A striking French Empire–style pedestal crafted in the Neoclassical taste, featuring a gilt bronze figure of a cherub supporting a stylized dolphin, surmounted by a square marble top. The sculptural bronze figure is finely cast with expressive modeling and warm gilt surface, mounted atop a square marble pedestal adorned with applied gilt bronze classical motifs to each side and scrolling mounts at the base. The pedestal rests on a stepped marble plinth, providing both visual balance and stability. An elegant and highly decorative architectural accent. 43 in. H, 12 in. W, 12 in. D. Condition: Very good overall condition. Light surface wear consistent with age, with attractive patina to gilt elements. Marble top and pedestal show minor edge wear and natural veining.
