Sessions Mantel Clock with Gilt Figural Topper - Early 20th century Sessions mantel clock featuring a black enameled case of architectural form, richly embellished with gilt metal mounts in the Neoclassical taste. The façade is designed with applied columnar supports and decorative panels centered by a round brass bezel enclosing the original painted dial with Arabic numerals and floral wreath decoration. Dial marked “Made by the Sessions Clock Co., Forestville, Conn., U.S.A.”The clock is surmounted by an elegant gilt metal figural sculpture of a seated maiden in flowing classical drapery, posed with an open book, lending the piece a romantic allegorical character typical of late Victorian and Edwardian decorative arts. Raised on ornate gilt metal scroll feet with additional gilt ornamentation to the corners and sides. 20 in. H x 17 in. W x 7 in. D Condition: Good overall condition with surface wear consistent with age. Finish wear and rubbing to gilt mounts and case. Dial with light discoloration. Working condition not tested.
