Victorian Giltwood Overmantel Mirror - Impressive Victorian giltwood overmantel mirror, the rectangular plate within a richly molded frame ornamented with applied beading and a border of circular bosses, surmounted by an elaborate crest of scrolling acanthus, floral sprays, and a central shell cartouche. The bold, high-relief pediment and deep molded surround reflect the exuberant Rococo Revival influence popular in the mid- to late-19th century, particularly in English and American interiors. The generous scale and strong architectural presence make this an ideal statement piece for a mantel, entry hall, or formal living space. Retains its large single mirror plate and substantial original backing, with a warm, mellowed gilt surface that enhances the carved detail. 68 in H x 45 in W x 7 in D. Condition: Great condition.
