Rosewood Rococo Revival Needlepoint Fire Screen — Mid-19th Century - A fine mid-19th century Rococo Revival fire screen crafted in richly figured rosewood, featuring a beautifully executed needlepoint panel depicting a romantic courtyard scene with figures in period dress, a seated musician with lute, attendant figures, and architectural ruins beyond. The shaped and molded frame is embellished with flowing foliate carving, pierced cresting, and elegantly scrolled side supports, all rising above a turned standard and cabriole tripod base with carved knees and scrolled feet. The needlework panel is well detailed with strong coloration and pleasing depth, framed within a molded inner surround. The reverse retains a later but appropriate red fabric backing. 50 in. H, 27 in. W, 16 in. D Condition: Structurally sound with minor surface wear consistent with age. Needlework presents well; backing fabric later.
