Cherry Two-Drawer Work Table, Kentucky Region, Mid-19th Century - A well-proportioned cherry two-drawer work table, likely Kentucky, mid-19th century. The rectangular top with softly rounded edges rests above a simple case fitted with two graduated drawers, each retaining turned wooden pulls. The drawers are dovetailed and open to interiors constructed of poplar secondary wood, consistent with Kentucky and Upper South cabinetmaking traditions. The case is raised on four turned and tapering legs with ring turnings, terminating in pointed feet. The restrained form reflects a vernacular interpretation of late Federal styling, common in Kentucky between circa 1840 and 1860. The cherry displays a warm, mellow surface with attractive grain, particularly across the top and drawer fronts. 29 in. H, 20 in. W, 19 in. D Condition: Very good overall condition.
