Victorian Rosewood Courting Sofa - Victorian Rosewood Courting Sofa, mid-19th century — An elegant and unusual rosewood courting sofa featuring twin high balloon backs divided by a central carved and pierced crest panel. The richly carved frame displays foliate scrollwork, molded arms, and cabriole legs with carved knees. Upholstered in yellow/canary velvet with button tufted backs and arms. A classic Victorian “conversation” form designed to seat two while maintaining modest separation, highly popular in formal parlors of the period. 45 1/2 in. H, 71 in. W, 21 in.
