Flame Mahogany Classical Pier Table, Pennsylvania School, likely Quervelle Tradition, mid-19th - A finely proportioned Classical pier table crafted in richly figured flame mahogany, attributed to the Pennsylvania/Philidelphia school and consistent with Quervelle-school cabinetmaking. The rectangular top features a bold gadrooned edge with deeply carved leaf-and-scroll molding, framing a well-matched mahogany surface displaying strong flame figure. The table is raised on substantial scrolled supports terminating in carved claw feet, joined by a shaped stretcher for added stability. The sculptural base, confident carving, and restrained classical ornament reflect the refined yet muscular aesthetic associated with southeastern Pennsylvania cabinetmakers.
