Early 19th Century Federal Kentucky Cherry Inlaid Chest of Drawers - A fine early 19th century Federal-period chest of drawers, likely Kentucky origin, crafted in richly figured cherry with refined inlay and elegant proportions. The case features a traditional graduated drawer arrangement, with three short drawers over four long drawers, each accented with light-wood string inlay framing the drawer fronts. Original oval brass bail pulls with classical figural decoration remain intact, along with central escutcheons.The chest stands on delicately shaped French feet, with a subtly molded base and cleanly finished sides, exhibiting the restrained yet confident aesthetic associated with early Kentucky Federal furniture. The top displays attractive cherry grain with mellow surface wear consistent with age. Interior drawers show period construction with dovetail joinery and secondary woods typical of the region.Provenance label from the collection of Bruce and Vivalyn Knight affixed to the interior drawer, further supporting quality and careful stewardship. 66 in.
