Rare Oversized Victorian Marble-Top Center Table with Horse Hoof Feet Attr. Thomas Brooks - A rare and sculptural Victorian marble-top center table attributed to Thomas Brooks, New York, circa 1865–1875. The circular white marble top rests above a richly carved walnut base of exceptional quality, exhibiting the bold naturalistic carving and architectural vigor associated with Brooks’ finest productions. The frieze is carved with linear detailing above a dramatic tripod base centered by a turned and baluster-form standard. The three supports are heavily carved with scrolling acanthus and foliate motifs, terminating in distinctive horse hoof feet — a rare and highly desirable feature strongly associated with Thomas Brooks’ celebrated animalistic designs. The carving is deep, crisp, and confident, with excellent symmetry and mass, demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship expected from this important New York maker. The marble appears original and well-fitted to the base. The walnut retains a warm, lustrous surface with attractive color and grain. An impressive statement piece suitable for a grand interior, entry hall, or featured placement within a fine Victorian collection. 29 in. H, 39 in. W, 32 in. D Condition: Very good overall antique condition. Marble top intact with minor expected wear. Carved base structurally sound with strong detail and an appealing patina.
