American Classical Mahogany Tall Case Clock, Early 19th Century - An American Classical tall case clock constructed of richly figured mahogany, featuring a broken-arch hood surmounted by a gilt brass eagle finial. The hood is fitted with engaged turned columns flanking a painted iron dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, and an arched lunette decorated with a classical allegorical figure. The clock face retains its original hands and winding arbors. The waist with single long door opening to the pendulum compartment, above a molded base with stepped plinth. Interior retains original pendulum and two cylindrical weights. Secondary woods appear consistent with period American construction. The overall design reflects the restrained elegance of American Classical clockmaking, likely New England, ca.1820–1840. 84 in. H, 27 in. W, 11 in. D. Condition: Good overall condition. Case with expected surface wear, scattered minor abrasions, and areas of finish wear consistent with age and use. Dial with age toning, scattered paint loss, and surface abrasions. Movement present with original weights and pendulum; not tested for timekeeping accuracy. No major structural issues observed.
