Rosewood Laminated Parlor Side Chair, Attributed to Charles Baudouine, New York - Exceptional laminated rosewood parlor chair attributed to the celebrated New York cabinetmaker Charles Baudouine, renowned for his masterful use of steam-bent and laminated rosewood in the Rococo Revival style. This striking chair features a boldly pierced and deeply carved crest rail with scrolling foliage and floral ornament, framing an upholstered back in rich red velvet. The serpentine seat is similarly upholstered and trimmed, supported on graceful cabriole legs carved with acanthus leaves and terminating in small scroll feet. The back splat and rear panel display elegant cutwork, adding dramatic silhouette and showcasing the sculptural quality for which Baudouine’s furniture is highly prized.
