Pair of Cast Iron Duck-Form Andirons, Memphis Machine Works - Charming and sculptural pair of American cast iron andirons in the form of stylized ducks, each mounted on an integral plinth base with rear log supports cast in one with the body. The horizontal iron bars are boldly cast “MEMPHIS MACHINE WORKS, ” identifying the Tennessee foundry and lending strong regional industrial interest. The ducks are rendered with rounded bodies, defined beaks, and raised tails, their simple, almost folk-art silhouettes balanced by the substantial weight and honest surface of the iron.
