French Louis XV Style Carved Full-Size Bed with Rails and Matching Nightstand - Elegant French Louis XV style full-size bed, richly carved in the Rococo manner with flowing asymmetrical scrollwork, floral garlands, and pierced cresting to the serpentine headboard. The footboard echoes the same sinuous lines and molded cartouches, while the shaped cabriole legs and carved apron reinforce the movement and refinement characteristic of 18th century French design as revived in the late 19th to early 20th century. The carving throughout displays strong depth and crisp modeling, with a warm walnut-toned finish highlighting the natural grain. The bed is accompanied by matching shaped rails and a coordinating French nightstand (often referred to as a chevet), featuring carved cabriole legs, a lower cupboard door with molded panel, and a marble inset top above a shaped shelf. Though exhibiting some Art Nouveau fluidity in its lines, the ensemble is firmly rooted in the Louis XV Revival tradition. A dramatic and decorative bedroom suite centerpiece.
