Labeled Dentist Cabinet, American, Early 20th Century - A fine and highly functional American dentist cabinet by American Cabinet Co., retaining original manufacturer’s metal label marked “American Cabinet Co. Steel Number 70539 – Made in U.S.A.” Crafted in walnut with clean architectural lines, the cabinet features an upper section with three glazed doors opening to adjustable shelving, above a long glass-front instrument display compartment. The lower case is fitted with an extensive array of graduated drawers for instruments and supplies, flanked by cupboard storage, all retaining original faceted glass pulls. The cabinet is surmounted by its original white marble work surface and raised on a plinth base with green marble accent trim. American Cabinet Co. was one of the premier manufacturers of early 20th-century medical and dental cabinetry, known for incorporating steel-lined drawers and hygienic surfaces during the Progressive Era shift toward sterile clinical environments.
