American Tall Case Clock, Early 19th Century - A handsome American tall case clock in a figured mahogany case with arched bonnet and turned corner columns, surmounted by three flame finials. The arched hood frames a painted metal dial with Roman numeral chapter ring, subsidiary seconds dial, and calendar aperture, fitted with pierced steel hands. The waist features a molded cornice above an arched panel door, raised on a plinth base with shaped bracket feet. Retains original pendulum with decorated bob and two iron weights. The proportions are slender and refined, suggesting a late Federal to early Classical influence, likely first half of the 19th century. 90.5 in. H, 18.5 in. W, 9.25 in. D. Condition: Appears to retain original hardware. Dial with age-appropriate wear and minor surface discoloration. Case with scattered scuffs, finish wear, and minor surface losses consistent with age. Movement not tested for accuracy or running condition at time of cataloging.
