Large French Mahogany Cheval Mirror - A graceful French cheval mirror crafted in mahogany with shaped and molded frame, the crest centered by an applied gilt foliate cartouche in Rococo taste. The elongated mirror plate is framed by flowing, serpentine uprights adorned with gilt foliate ornament, terminating in cabriole legs joined by a shaped stretcher and raised on original casters. The rich mahogany surface displays warm color and subtle figuring, complemented by restrained gilt highlights that enhance the sculptural lines without overwhelming the form. The mirror tilts within the frame via original side supports. 76 in. H, 30 in. W, 23 in. D Condition: Good overall condition consistent with age.
