The obverse depicts two nude wrestlers grappling, a celebrated athletic type emblematic of the city?s prosperity and its strong association with the Panhellenic games. The reverse shows a slinger advancing right, about to discharge his sling, with triskeles symbol and legend within incuse square. Aspendos staters are among the most iconic and widely collected issues of the Classical Greek world, prized for their dynamic figural artistry and broad flans.
