Collection of Seventy-Three U.S. Silver Dimes, 1945-1964 - Group of seventy-three United States silver dimes dating from 1945 through 1964, housed individually in cardboard coin holders and stored in a red collector?s box labeled ?1945?1964 Dimes.? The lot includes examples from the closing years of the Mercury dime series and the early years of the Roosevelt dime, representing the transition between two of the most recognizable twentieth-century American coin designs.The Mercury dime, designed by Adolph A. Weinman, features Liberty wearing a winged cap symbolizing freedom of thought, while the Roosevelt dime introduced in 1946, designed by John R. Sinnock, honors President Franklin D. Roosevelt with a portrait on the obverse and a torch with olive and oak branches on the reverse.All coins in the group were struck in 90% silver, the standard composition for U.S. dimes until 1964. Each coin contains approximately 0.0723 troy ounces of silver, giving the lot a combined silver content of approximately 5.3 troy ounces.
