Collection of Ninety Mercury Silver Dimes, 1916-1945 - Collection of ninety United States Mercury silver dimes dating from 1916 through 1945, housed individually in cardboard coin holders and stored within a red collector's storage box labeled Dimes 1916-1945. The Mercury dime, officially known as the Winged Liberty Head dime, was designed by renowned sculptor Adolph A. Weinman and is widely considered one of the most elegant designs in American coinage.The obverse features Liberty wearing a winged cap symbolizing freedom of thought, while the reverse displays a fasces bound with an olive branch, representing national unity balanced with peace. The series was struck from 1916 to 1945, when it was replaced by the Roosevelt dime.All coins in this group were struck in 90% silver, each containing approximately 0.0723 troy ounces of silver, giving the lot a combined silver content of approximately 6.5 troy ounces. Condition: Circulated; light to moderate wear consistent with circulation; housed in cardboard coin holders within collector?s storage box.
