Collection of Seventy-Three Mercury Silver Dimes, 1916-1945 - Collection of seventy-three United States Mercury silver dimes dating from 1916 through 1945, housed individually in cardboard coin holders and stored within a red collector's storage box labeled 1916 to 1945 Dimes. The Mercury dime, officially known as the Winged Liberty Head dime, was designed by renowned sculptor Adolph A. Weinman and is widely regarded as one of the most attractive designs in American coinage. The obverse depicts Liberty wearing a winged cap symbolizing freedom of thought, while the reverse features a fasces bound with an olive branch, representing strength and unity balanced with peace. The series was struck from 1916 until 1945, when it was replaced by the Roosevelt dime. All coins in the lot were struck in 90% silver, with each coin containing approximately 0.0723 troy ounces of silver, giving the group a combined silver content of approximately 5.3 troy ounces Condition: Circulated; light to moderate wear consistent with circulation; housed in cardboard coin holders within collector?s storage box.
