Pair of American Mahogany Side Chairs, Chippendale and Queen Anne Styles - A matched pair of American mahogany side chairs in complementary 18th-century styles, comprising one Chippendale example and one Queen Anne example. The Chippendale chair features a shaped crest rail above a finely pierced splat with elegant interlaced and heart motifs, raised on straight square legs joined by stretchers. The Queen Anne chair is distinguished by its flowing crest rail and vasiform splat, supported by straight legs with simple stretchers. Both retain upholstered slip seats, one in red fabric with brass nailhead trim and the other in needlepoint-style upholstery with floral decoration. 38 in. H, 21 in. W, 18 in. D Condition: General surface wear consistent with age and use. Upholstery later and showing minor wear; frames structurally sound. Expected variations between the two chairs as a “married?? pair.
