Pair of English Brass Argand Table Lamps, Johnston & Brookes, London - A fine pair of English brass Argand table lamps, stamped “Johnston, Brookes & Co., Manufacturers, London, ” dating to the late 19th century. Each lamp features a classical columnar standard rising from a stepped circular base, supporting a lateral burner arm fitted with original Argand-style fittings. The bodies are surmounted by distinctive spherical oil reservoirs (font form), each topped with a finely cast flame-form finial. The arms retain their period burner housings, now electrified, and are fitted with original etched and frosted glass shades of tulip form, decorated with delicate floral engraving. 15 in. H, 9 in. W, 4 in. D Condition: Electrified; wear to brass with areas of patina and rubbing; shades appear original with minor edge wear; one shade has two visible chips. See last photo.
