Monumental Giltwood King Size Bed in the Russian Imperial Taste, Continental, Mid to Late 19th - An exceptional king-size bed executed in the grand Russian Imperial taste, featuring an elaborately pierced and gilt crest with scrolling foliate ornament, latticework, and finial surmounts. The shaped headboard and footboard are richly decorated with inset burlwood panels framed by extensive gilt carving, centered by a bold oval medallion with radiating foliate motif. The structure is supported by turned and fluted posts with carved capitals and gilt detailing, joined by a shaped apron with pendant ornament. 10 ft. 6 in. H, 88 in. WThe bed comes with custom-made bed steps. Condition: Extensive surface wear and losses to gilt throughout; scattered cracks, repairs, and areas of instability consistent with scale and age; overall displays impressively
