Large Neoclassical Mythological Scene, Oil on Canvas, After Guido Reni - An expansive oil on canvas depicting a dynamic mythological scene in the neoclassical taste, likely inspired by or after Guido Reni’s celebrated compositions of Aurora or similar allegorical subjects. The composition features a procession of classical figures and winged putti guiding a rearing horse-drawn chariot across a luminous sky, accompanied by flowing drapery and richly colored garments. At right, a female allegorical figure scatters flowers over a distant landscape. The painting is housed in a substantial carved and giltwood frame with scrolling foliate decoration, and the reverse reveals later stretcher and backing, indicating relining or restoration. 40.5 in. D Condition: Canvas appears relined; surface with craquelure and areas of restoration visible under varnish; some unevenness to varnish and surface; frame with losses, cracks, and wear consistent with age and handling.
