Fine Southern Federal Mahogany Fall-Front Desk, c. 1800–1820 - A refined Southern Federal mahogany fall-front desk, early 19th century, exhibiting excellent figure throughout with richly grained mahogany veneers across the drawer fronts and writing surface. The case is fitted with a hinged fall-front opening to a well-appointed interior featuring a central prospect door flanked by valanced pigeonholes and an arrangement of small drawers. The exterior presents four graduated drawers with line-inlaid borders and oval brass pulls, the top drawer fitted with a working lock and tassel key. The case is supported on shaped bracket feet. 42 in. H, 40 in. W, 23 in. D Condition: Surface wear consistent with age and use, including minor abrasions, edge wear, and scattered finish inconsistencies. Interior retains good structure; hardware appears largely period. No major structural issues observed.
