Reverse Painted Eglomisé Glass “Connubial Happiness” after Hinton, 1808 - Early 19th century English school reverse painting on glass depicting a refined domestic parlor scene with a seated gentleman, lady at keyboard, and child attendant. The composition titled “Connubial Happiness, ” with visible inscription referencing publication September 3, 1808 by I. Hinton of Warwick Square, London. Executed in the traditional verre églomisé technique with vibrant yet mellowed palette and fine period detailing. Housed in a later mahogany veneer frame. 12 in. H, 16 in. W Condition: Stable overall with visible cracking to the glass and associated losses to the reverse-painted surface; some flaking and wear consistent with age; retains strong visual presentation.
