American Empire Mahogany Marble-Top Pier Table - American Empire mahogany pier table, circa 1840-1850, having a rectangular white marble top with molded edge above a highly figured mahogany frieze, supported by bold scrolled lyre-form side supports and a shaped lower platform stretcher with scalloped front edge. The table has strong flame mahogany figure, architectural proportions, and a particularly decorative shaped lower shelf. 38 in. H, 42.5 in. W, 19 in. D. Condition: Good antique condition with expected surface wear, minor veneer and finish imperfections, scattered abrasions, and age-related marks. Marble top with scratches, discoloration, and wear consistent with age and use. Mirror plate present. Backboard/paneling appears later or stabilized.
