New York Classical Mahogany Fold-Over Card Table, ca. 1825-1840 - A fine American Classical mahogany fold-over card table, likely New York, second quarter 19th century, having a rectangular hinged top with clipped front corners opening to a square playing surface. The table features a richly figured mahogany top above a deep molded apron, supported by a bold cylindrical pedestal rising from a quatreform platform base with carved acanthus collar, scrolled supports, carved foliate knees, and paw feet on casters. From Ormonde Plantation, Natchez, Mississippi. 29 in. H, 35 in. W, 18 in. D closed, 35.5 in. D extended. Condition: Good restored/refinished condition with a fine polished surface, age shrinkage, minor veneer and molding separations, scattered abrasions, small losses, repairs, and wear consistent with age and use.
